Edwin and Esther Prentke Fund

In 1966 Edwin and Esther Prentke were both employed in a service delivery and research program at Highland View Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. The Edwin and Esther Prentke Fund honors their dedication and contributions to improving the lives of people with disabilities. Click here for more information on Ed and Esther.

The Edwin and Esther Prentke Fund supports various specific AAC Institute activities. One activity is the Edwin and Esther Prentke AAC Distinguished Lecture, presented annually at the convention of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). One of the goals of the lecture is to honor an individual, typically one who relies on AAC, who has demonstrated life achievement or who has made contributions to advance the field of AAC. The lecture also serves as a demonstration to ASHA members of the communication performance possible when individuals are provided with the systems and services that they need.
