Graphics and research designed to stimulate participant discussions will be presented. This will include a discussion of variables which may influence of our symbol research. Also, it will also consider factors important in clinical practice.

Questions to guide discussion:
#1. -What developmental perceptual and cognitive data do we have on graphic symbol recognition and recall?
#2. -What are the important variables in considering the use of graphic symbols in research?
#3. -What are the important characteristics of symbols set/systems in relation to learning, retention and use?
