Description:
Access on the High Seas is an annual forum created specifically for clinicians, teachers, therapists, and AT professionals with a specific focus on alternative access to computing and AAC devices. Training sessions include detailed product training on Madentec products, as well as real-world best-practices application of the technology provided by independent AT professionals. There will also be live user demonstrations of some of the solutions. Substantial hands-on time will be made available to the participants for individualized learning. Finally, there will be opportunities for networking and collaboration via an open discussion forum addressing difficult problems and ideas for new solutions. The event is limited to approximately 50 people.
Learning Outcomes:
As a result of this activity, participants will be able to:1) Identify appropriate access methods to computers and AAC devices for varying types of physical impairments.
2) Customize access solutions for individual cases.
3) Discuss issues related to computer / AAC access.
4) Identify current research and trends in technology access solutions.
