Description:
The Southeast Washington Autism Conference addresses the interests and needs of many different stakeholders in the autism field. Keynote speakers Temple Grandin and Paula Kluth are joined by session presenters covering educational, social, behavior, and other important issues. The program includes breakout sessions and time with exhibitors.Learning Outcomes:
As a result of this activity, participants will be able to:
1) discuss the reasons for skill deficits and disruptive behaviors in children with social communication
problems;
2) suggest environmental modification and accommodations to enhance availability for learning; and
3) advocate for students with autism regarding IEP goals and other educational objectives.
