The 2009 Clinical Conference was designed to help health care providers further their education of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) through workshops, panel discussion, and networking opportunities with other health care professionals. This three-day conference explores the science and research of ALS; avenues of social support for people living with ALS, as well as their family members and caregivers; quality of life; and pulmonary care.

Learning Outcomes:
As a result of this activity, participants will be able to:
1. Discuss foundational information about ALS, including what is known regarding its etiology, symptoms, course, systemic implications, and medical issues.
2. Identify the myriad impact of an ALS diagnosis on daily living, including implications for relationships, decision making, and end of life issues.
3. Convey information on the benefits of supportive technologies and equipment, assessing need, and making appropriate recommendations.
4. Participate more fully in a multi-disciplinary assistive technology team.
