Description:
The focus of this webcast is the selection, acquisition and use of accessible instructional materials (AIM) for students who require them for educational participation and achievement. Questions to be explored include: What are accessible instructional materials (AIM)? Which students need AIM? What are the sources for AIM? What support is available to state and local education agencies, educators, and families? How do accessible instructional materials relate to NIMAS, AT, and UDL?Learning Outcomes:
As a result of this activity, participants will be able to:
1) explain the connections between Universal Design for Learning, Accessible Instructional Materials, NIMAS, and Assistive Technology.2) identify the four specialized formats included in IDEA 2004 and describe the general attributes of students for whom each is appropriate.
3) describe a process that assists with the identification of need for accessible instructional materials and the selection of formats and supports that enhance participation and achievement using the format.
4) Compare and contrast two or more paths for the acquisition and provision of accessible instructional materials.
5) Access and use resources that assist decision-makers at all stages of selection, acquisition and use of accessible instructional materials.
