Description:
Wondering about how the latest acronyms and educational initiatives related to NCLB and IDEA impact assistive technology (AT) service provision? Unsure about how to mix AIM, NIMAS, RTI with AT? This session briefly defines each of the initiatives, engages participants in thoughtful discussions about how they impact AT, and provides an opportunity to ponder how each of these initiatives might redefine the field of AT and the roles of AT service providers over the next decade. Add your voice to collegial discussions that explore emerging trends and what they mean in your typical environments.Learning Outcomes:
As a result of this activity, participants will be able to:
1) explain the ways in which AT complements the development of UDL environments, RTI initiatives, and the delivery of accessible instructional materials.2) list the circumstances in which AT would be needed in UDL environments, in RTI initiatives, and in the delivery of accessible instructional materials.
3) gain information necessary to discuss how effective AT services may change in the coming decade.
