University of Pittsburgh CSD Diversity Day

The Communication Science and Disorders Department of the University of Pittsburgh sponsored guest lectures by distinguished faculty from Hampton and Howard Universities. The event was for students, faculty, and professionals interested in multi-cultural training in the field of Speech-Language Pathology. Lecture topics included the influences of prenatal HIV and substance abuse on communication disorders, multi-cultural professional training, and AAC use and treatment.

Learning Outcomes:
As a result of this activity, participants will be able to:
1. Discuss issues regarding multi-cultural considerations in Speech-Language Pathology practice.

2. Identify the affects of prenatal HIV and substance abuse on communication disorders.

3. Discuss current issues of AAC use and treatment.


CEUs
CSD Diversity Day is approved for a total of up to 0.3 CEUs (2.8 hours).
