Assistive Technology Solutions for People with Degenerative Neurological Disorders (DND)

Description:
This presentation will cover the basics of the process for people with permanent stable and permanent degenerative DND (e.g., Huntington’s Disease, Muscular Dystrophy, ALS, Multiple Sclerosis, Spinal Cord Injuries, Traumatic Brain Injury, Cerebral Palsy, Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, AIDS, stroke). Success stories and strategies such as AT Solutions, the HEAAT Model, team approaches as well as funding and resources will be discussed.

Learning Outcomes:
As a result of this activity, participants will be able to:

1. Learn the basics of Degenerative Neurological Disorders (DND) and the difference between permanent stable and unstable DND.

2. Learn strategies such as the HEAAT Model, team approaches and community resources for DND.

3. Learn about the best Assistive Technology for people living with DND as well as local and national funding sources to assist in purchasing AT.
