Building Bridges: Creating Inclusive Communities

Description:
Join us for Building Bridges in Columbus. This interactive session will cover basic disability-related content and focus on building skills. Topics that will be addressed include: Disability Awareness, Guiding Principles, Inclusion, Value-Laden Language, Understanding the Relationship between Words, Attitudes and Actions and Common Tips for Etiquette. Please come prepared with your comments and questions, a portion of Activities will include an Ask-it Basket Q&A time.  Resources will be provided, including tips and strategies to "Keep the Conversation Going."

Learning Outcomes:
As a result of this activity, participants will be able to:

1. Be able to assist local groups in learning more about the Tools for Life Program and how Assistive Technology is making a difference in the lives of people with disabilities.

2. Learn about basic disability awareness etiquette such as using proper language, understanding the relationship between words and actions, and tips on interacting with people with disabilities.

3. Learn some real solutions on Employment, Education, Transition, Emergency Management and Transportation issues.
