This webinar will be conducted in an interactive form where participants will learn the basic structures of the learning disability (LD) and potential technology driven solution provision techniques. An overview of "The Hidden Disability" will be discussed and outlined. Additional resources embedded in the PowerPoint will discuss the types of LD typically found in general populations via links and definitions. Technology solutions will be unveiled and detailed from the most simple and lowest cost to the more "premium" costly but more comprehensive learning access solutions available in the industry. The interactive PowerPoint will be given to the learner as a reference for future use and access.Speaker Biography:
John Miullo has over 15 years of business management experience in technology and service provision relevant to delivering cost effective innovations to various disability market sectors including vocational rehabilitation, aging services, education, government and developmentally disabled.
- Created, assessed alternatives, designed, facilitated team management, implemented and trained staff on the world’s first technologically advanced residence for Parkinson’s and other movement disorders. This award winning series of solutions has gained national attention for replicability in long term care.
- Consulting for the technology planning committee on two multimillion dollar new “Green SmartHome” facilities in Colorado for cost effective high impact implementation of cutting edge green and automated technologies for the developmentally impaired and disabled communities.
- Evaluated and designed for suitability, procured, implemented, and trained over 300 end users on highly functional unique technology driven access systems for the disabled as well as ergonomic workstations.
- Coordinated procurement of technology and training solutions for the State of New York’s & Florida’s Education Department, area schools, private entities, New York State Developmental Services Organization, DOD & other non-profit/government agencies.
- Researched, identified, guided the application process, obtained andimplemented/facilitated a state grant on the ARDC expansion project
for curriculum development and trainings for aging services staff in
Florida. Presently working on national campaign to do so via the web in a cost effective broad scale using a learning management system.Learning Outcomes:
As a result of this activity, participants will be able to:1. Participants will discover the myths about and the types of learning disabilities.
2. Participants will have an understanding of the most common technology solutions embedded within more ubiquitous applications.
3. Participants will have a basic understanding of more specific add-on technology solutions for aiding the learning disabled to gain access to curriculum and vocational success
