American Appetite” will present Food and the Brain. "When we put food rich in sugar, fat, and salt in our mouths, we stimulate neurons. Neurons are connected in circuits and communicate with one another to create feelings, store information, and control behavior.”If you’re struggling with your weight, or simply don’t understand why you can’t seem to stop eating your favorite foods, Dr. Kessler offers new insights and useful tools to help you find a solution.
Dr. Kessler served as Commissioner of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration under president’s George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton. He reinvented the food label and tackled the tobacco industry.
Learning Outcomes:

2. Describe how our bodies and minds are changed when we consume foods that contain sugar, fat, and salt.
