Midnight Sun Assistive Technology Conference
August 3-5, 2011
Alaska’s 3rd biennial assistive technology (AT) conference was held in Anchorage, AK August 3-5, 2011. The focus of the conference was on seeing first hand the latest in AT related devices and software, practices and services for people with disabilities. Both off-the-shelf” technology and specialized AT for home, education, employment, community living, and IT / Telecommunications will be discussed and demonstrated.
Exhibitors from nationally renowned AT companies and many local disability organizations were available throughout the conference to provide participants with hands-on demonstrations and share information. There were more than 110 presentations from 60 local, national and international presenters.
Learning Outcomes:
As a result of this activity, participants will:1. Increase knowledge of assistive technology resources.
2. Understand the importance of AT for the topic(s) of the session(s)
3. Identify three AT devices or software that they would like to learn more about.
