What is LAM?
Language activity monitoring (LAM) is the automatic recording of AAC system language events. LAM data consists of two primary components:
1) Time of the event with a resolution of one second, and
2) Content of the event.
These two components alone allow the generation of an AAC performance report that provides fifteen summary measures that are useful for clinical intervention.
The format for the LAM logfile event is:
hh:mm:ss ABC "content"
where hh:mm:ss is the time of day (hours, minutes, seconds) in a 24 hour format, ABC is an optional three letter mnemonic code designating the source of the event, "content" is the content of the event, and each event has a new line. A language sample consists of a series of events.
The optional ABC source code facilitates the determination of the language representation method used to generate the event. It presently has the following options:
ACT ....Activity row ....................Activity row
