Dynavox Setup
These are the instructions for setting the pre-4000 series Dynavox and Dynamyte devices so that language events are sent out the serial port as they are generated.
1. Note: The settings must be made while in the user area that will be used for the language sample collection procedure.
2. Somewhere in the user area, perhaps on a page not generally accessible to the user, must reside a key with the control function Alternate Output.
a. To create the Alternate Output key, first press the SETUP button.
b. Select Edit Page.
c. Select the key location where Alternate Output will reside.
d. Select Edit Button Style.
e. Select Change Button Type.
f. Select Command Button.
g. Select OK from the Edit Button Style window.
h. Select Modify from the Edit Button window.
i. Select Modify Command from the Modify Command window.
j. Select Alternate Output from the Select Command window.
k. Select OK from the windows and YES to save.3. Set up the Alternate Output features.
a. Select the Alternate Output key.
b. Set Output to Serial 1.
c. Set Send Audio Feedback to Off.
d. Set Send Button Feedback to On.
e. Set Use to Plus Speech.
f. Select OK.4. Set the output port baud rate.
a. Press the SETUP button.
b. Select Input/Output Device Settings
c. Set Serial 1 to Baud Rate 9600.
(Other baud rates can be used as long as the receiving system is set to the same rate. The default baud rate for U-LAM is 9600.)
d. Select OK to close the Input/Output Device Settings window.5. Define the Button Feedback mode.
a. In the Setup window, select Selection Method.
b. Set Button Feedback to Message.
c. Select OK to close windows.
