| The AAC Institute also has a Parent
Support Liaison, Robin Hurd. Robin is available at parents@aacinstitue.org
for one-on-one help to parents in need. She also works to connect parents
and educators together as a team, and to provide them with the information
they need to effectively teach children who use AAC. In addition to writing
the Parents Corner for the AAC Institute, Robin writes a monthly column
for NASA’s Southeast Regional Clearinghouse (SERCH) titled, Access
Science. The focus of this column is teaching science and math to students
with special needs. It can be accessed at: http://serch.cofc.edu/special/accessscience.htm
Robin can also be found at various conferences around the world. In 2006,
she attended ISAAC, CSUN conference on disabilities, NASA’s Exceptional
Needs Workshop (enws), Council for Exceptional Children (CEC), Closing
the Gap, GIFTSNC and the EAST conference on science and disabilities.
In 2007 she will be at ICE (Independence, Community, Empowerment) in Toronto,
Council for Exceptional Children, AAC Institute Symposium, and PEC (Pittsburgh
Employment Conference), just to name a few. |
