Performance Report Tool (PeRT)PeRT software facilitates the generation of the AAC Performance Report from AAC language samples automatically collected using the Language Activity Monitor (LAM) data format. The AAC Performance Report includes seventeen quantitative summary measures of communication performance. Appendices include LAM data, utterances, word lists, and a text version of the report. This allows the monitoring of performance over time for setting therapy goals and objectives and measuring outcomes. With the AAC Performance Report, therapy can be far more effective and higher communication performance can be achieved. The AAC Performance Report supports AAC evidence-based practice.
AAC Performance Report
Using PeRT is easy and fun!
1) Open a LAM data file,
2) Segment utterances while watching for errors, and
3) Enter the AAC Performance Report header information.
PeRT does the rest!
PeRT Screen showing 1) LAM data, 2) segmented utterances, 3) control buttons,
4) word and utterance information, and 5) utterance counter.
A free self-study course is available on the research supporting performance measurement and the AAC Performance Report. The course includes a module on using PeRT.PeRT software was written in Java to allow operation on both PC and Macintosh platforms.
A fully functional demonstration version of PeRT can be obtained in the following ways:
1) Download from the AAC Institute web site. (If your computer does not already have the Java Runtime Environment, it can be downloaded from the Sun Microsystems web site: http://www.java.com . Note: the JRE file size is around 14M.) OR
2) Obtain a CD from AAC Institute. (Email sales@aacinstitute.org with your shipping address). The CD contains PeRT as well as the Java Runtime Environment. The demonstration program will work for 60 days. A password can be purchased to extend its function beyond that time: $95.
ACKNOWLEDGMENT: The National Institute for Deafness and Other Communication Disorders of NIH provided initial funding to support development and testing that led to PeRT.
