Java
The SSPT program was written in Java in order to be able to be run on both Windows and Macintosh computers. However, this means that the computer must contain the Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2RE). To check to see if JRE is in the computer, look in the program files. If JRE is not in the computer, it is available without charge and can be loaded in a couple different ways. The file size is about 13.5M. To learn more about Java, visit the Sun Microsystems site.
1) If you have high speed Internet access, download the self-installing JRE from the Sun Microsystems site: http://java.sun.com/getjava. If you have only a dial-up connection, you may find it difficult to download a file of this size. In this case, you could ask a friend to download it and give it to you on a CD or find another computer with a faster Internet connection and do the same.

2) Request from the AAC Institute a CD that contains the JRE as well as SSPT, PeRT, U-LAM, and other resources. This will be sent without charge.
If you experience any difficulty with this installation, or have suggestions that may improve the experience of others, please send a message to support@aacinstitute.org.
